ELECTRICS
I enjoy assembling guitars. I swap necks and pick-ups until I find the combination that works for me.
I buy the wood from Warmoth, the pickups from Kinman, the hardware from Callaham & Sperzel and the electrics from AllParts.
Feline Guitars do the fret-dressing.
My 3 Warmoths share the same neck specs: short (24-3/4" scale), fat (1" top to bottom) & narrow (41mm), a compound radius (10" to 16") and 6100 stainless steel frets with Sperzel machine heads and a GraphTech TUSQ nut.
Same electrics as well: Kinmans, no tone controls and position 4 is front & back pickups for that Mark Knopfler tone.

Margaret• swamp ash body with flame koa top
• koa neck + birdseye maple fingerboard • Kinman Woodstock pickups • Callaham 6 point tremolo My main electric, fantastic playability with a natural midrange boost. The "rock" guitar. |
Maggy• alder body
• flame maple neck & fingerboard • Kinman Blues pickups • Gotoh 2-point bridge (non-floating) My 1st DIY guitar but looks the newest with a SimS Custom respray. Lighter than Margaret and with more bass response because the trem is fixed. Lower output pickups as well. The "blues" guitar used for Eb & Drop D. Maggy was my introduction to guitar building. Thanks to Phil Joiner (RIP) from Chandler Guitars who showed me how to put guitars together. |
Madge• ash chambered body, walnut top
• maple neck + ebony fingerboard • Kinman Broadcaster pickups • Gotoh Tune-O-Matic bridge My only hollow body. Fatter sounding with a P-90 sound from the bridge pup. Almost a "jazz" guitar. |
